The National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC), in collaboration with the University of Leeds, has held a two-day international research writing workshop focusing on quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis.
The workshop, which took place on 25th and 26th August 2026 at Hotel Africana, Kampala, aimed to strengthen their knowledge and practical skills in data management and analysis for research. Participants were taken through quantitative data entry and analysis, as well as qualitative data thematic analysis, equipping them with approaches for effectively managing, analysing and interpreting research data.
The workshop was facilitated by Dr Syafiq Mat Noor and Dr Ouhao Chen, lecturers at the University of Leeds. Through presentations, practical sessions and interactive discussions, participants had an opportunity to enhance their understanding of appropriate techniques for analysing both quantitative and qualitative data.
The workshop forms part of the collaboration between the University of Leeds and NCDC aimed at strengthening research capacity and supporting evidence-based approaches to curriculum development and implementation.
The workshop was made possible through funding from the British Academy, through the University of Leeds. The partnership and support provided an important opportunity for participants to strengthen their research competencies and contribute to the generation and use of quality evidence in education and curriculum development.
