The National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) today conducted a pre-retirement preparedness training session for staff members as part of its commitment to employee welfare and career transition planning.
The training, held on Tuesday, 4th August 2026, at the NCDC Conference Hall, was facilitated by Mr Patrick Ngolobe, Managing Partner at AREVA Consulting Group.
The interactive programme equipped staff with practical knowledge and skills to prepare for life after active employment. Key areas covered included financial preparedness and wealth preservation, health and wellness, post-retirement opportunities, personal etiquette, communication and personal branding, as well as the development of individual retirement action plans. Participants were encouraged to begin planning early to ensure a smooth and purposeful transition into retirement.
The training forms part of NCDC’s ongoing efforts to support staff development and well-being by promoting informed retirement planning, financial resilience and lifelong personal growth.
Speaking on behalf of the Director, the Deputy Director for Research, Consultancy and Library Services, Dr Richard Irumba, encouraged staff to prioritise financial planning and maintain healthy lifestyles as essential foundations for a secure and fulfilling retirement. He emphasised that retirement preparedness is a continuous process that should begin well before the end of one’s active career.
Dr Irumba further reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to staff welfare, noting that NCDC would continue organising similar capacity-building sessions to empower employees with the knowledge and skills needed to minimise the financial, social and health-related challenges often associated with life after retirement.
