The National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC), through the Department of Special Needs Education, is developing a Uganda Sign Language (UgSL) Learners’ Book to support inclusive teaching and learning for learners who are deaf or hard of hearing.
The development process is currently underway at Canon Apollo Primary School in Fort Portal City, bringing together curriculum specialists and education practitioners to ensure that the learning materials are relevant, accessible, and responsive to the needs of learners with special education needs.
The initiative is part of NCDC’s commitment to strengthening inclusive education and ensuring that learners with special educational needs have access to appropriate, quality curriculum materials.
The completed Learners’ Book is expected to provide structured learning content and support effective teaching and learning through Uganda Sign Language.
