National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) was honoured to host and interact with a team from UNICEF Uganda in a knowledge-sharing engagement that focused on the development and implementation of e-learning systems to support inclusive learning.
During the interaction, held on 26th June 2025, the two institutions explored practical strategies for integrating e-learning platforms into Uganda’s education system, with a special focus on reaching learners who are often left behind. These include children with disabilities, learners in rural and hard-to-reach areas, and those affected by socio-economic barriers. UNICEF shared global and regional experiences on how e-learning has been used to bridge gaps in access to quality education, while NCDC highlighted its ongoing initiatives in digital curriculum development and online content delivery.
During the intensive workshop, participants engaged in hands-on sessions on term creation, standardisation, and documentation, guided by experts from NCDC. They also explored strategies for integrating newly coined terms into educational materials and curricula to ensure accessibility and relevance for learners at all levels.
The discussions also underscored the importance of inclusivity and equity in education, noting that digital transformation should be guided by principles of accessibility, affordability, and relevance. Key areas of focus included the need for adaptable learning materials in multiple formats, teacher training to effectively use digital tools, and robust monitoring systems to track progress and learner outcomes.
Both organisations reaffirmed their shared vision of building a resilient education system that leverages innovation to ensure no child is left behind. The meeting also set the stage for deeper collaboration in the development of user-friendly e-learning resources, partnerships with providers, and advocacy for stronger investment in digital education infrastructure.
