National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC), through its ICT and Multimedia Department, embarked on the creation of digital content to aid teachers in implementing the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) at the lower secondary level.
The initiative responds to the growing need for modern, accessible, and engaging teaching resources that align with the new curriculum’s emphasis on learner-centered approaches, critical thinking, and skills development. By producing interactive digital content, NCDC seeks to enhance teachers’ ability to deliver lessons effectively, while also enriching the learning experience for students.
According to the Manager ICT & Multimedia Department, Mr Moses Tuhame, the Centre is focusing on content that supports classroom instruction across different subjects, integrating multimedia such as videos, animations, interactive exercises, and e-learning modules. These resources are designed to help teachers move beyond traditional rote methods and instead foster creativity, problem-solving, and active participation among learners.
This effort also reflects NCDC’s commitment to digital transformation in education. By leveraging ICT tools, the Centre aims to bridge gaps in resource availability, particularly for schools with limited access to up-to-date teaching materials.
The development of digital content further complements ongoing teacher training and capacity-building efforts, ensuring that educators are equipped not only with new curriculum guidelines but also with practical tools to bring them to life.
NCDC continues to engage stakeholders, including teachers, publishers, and education partners, to ensure the content produced meets national standards and contributes to improved learning outcomes.
