Teaching Religious Education enables learners to appreciate and value the mystery and beauty of creation and the interrelationships within it; it fosters good human relationships and respect for the differences between people and above all a range of positive attitudes such as patience, honesty, responsibility, tolerance, joy in life, cooperation, appreciation, sharing, endurance, perseverance, care for other people, and respect for other learners.
The Religious Education Curriculum at ordinary level builds on the Religious Education syllabus at Primary level. It comprises of two parts, that is, Islamic Religious Education and Christian Religious Education. Learners can only choose one of the two to learn and take examinations.
The curriculum promotes spiritual and moral development of the learner. Not only does it provide a learner with an insight into the nature of religion but also enables him/her to develop the skills needed to appreciate religious ideas and practices.
The curriculum further helps learners to appreciate the values of love, service, tolerance, integrity, loyalty, justice, self discipline, peace and patience, which are crucial in human fellowship.
