Religious Education

Religious Education focuses on the development of personal values, understanding of and tolerance for diversity, such as

religious beliefs, culture, economic, civic and political spheres, and the relationships between people and their environment, to enable them become responsible and productive citizens. Learners gain knowledge about God and the world; develop self-discipline, integrity, tolerance and human fellowship; develop spiritually; develop personal discipline and good manners; make sense of themselves, their own experiences and the world in which they live; learn about communities of faith, the foundations of given religious practices and festivals, rituals and holy days, and marriage customs; regulate interpersonal behaviour; become well-balanced and mature young citizens who make informed choices about beliefs; behave positively in society; grow into all-round, balanced, responsible and members of society. 

Religious Education in Upper Primary comprises Christian Religious Education (CRE) and Islamic Religious Education (IRE).  The content of CRE and IRE is based on the following themes:
